This site exists because the honest answer to "what does this print cost" is a calculation, not a figure, and almost everything published on the subject gives you the figure.
The calculation depends on which printer you own, which filament you loaded, what your electricity costs where you live, and how often your prints fail. Change any one of those and the answer moves — sometimes by a factor of four. A page that hands you a single number has quietly chosen all four of those inputs on your behalf, without telling you which ones.

The reference layer covers thirty-five filament materials with their density ranges, temperatures, shrinkage figures and honest weaknesses; forty-two common printers with their power draw and the basis of every wattage figure; sixty print failures explained by physical mechanism; and the nozzle and electricity-rate tables the calculators read from.
The reference pages are not padding around the tools. They are where the tools' inputs come from, and publishing them as pages means you can check a figure and disagree with it rather than taking it on trust.
Where the data comes from
Material properties come off published polymer data sheets, and where the real world gives a spread the spread is what gets stored. Averaging a genuine range down to one tidy figure makes a page look more authoritative and makes it less useful, because the reader can no longer see how much room there is between a cheap spool and a good one.
Power draw gets the most caution of anything on the site. Each machine carries not just its numbers but where they came from — somebody's plug meter, a manufacturer's published running figure, or an inference from machines of similar bed size and enclosure. That last category is labelled on the page as the estimate it is. An estimate rendered indistinguishably from a measurement is the quiet way a reference site becomes untrustworthy.
Electricity rates are published national averages, with the month they were compiled printed on the page, and they are editable inputs everywhere they are used.
What this site does not do
It does not review printers. Buying advice has a shelf life measured in months here, and anything written to that cadence is obsolete before it earns its keep. What is stored instead is the durable half: how a polymer behaves as it cools, what a kilowatt-hour costs, how to work out what your own hour is worth. None of that is invalidated by the next machine release.
It does not publish a single universal cost per gram, per hour or per print. Those numbers exist widely and they are all wrong for somebody.
Corrections
If a figure here is wrong it is worth fixing rather than defending. The materials and printer records are shared across every page, so a correction lands everywhere at once. The contact page has an email address that reaches a person.
