Six diameters from 0.2 mm to 1.0 mm, each with its practical maximum layer height, typical extrusion width, a realistic volumetric flow band, and an honest statement of the detail traded away.

Two rules of thumb are worth carrying: usable layer height tops out around 75–80% of nozzle diameter, and above about 0.8 mm the nozzle stops being the limiting factor because the hotend cannot melt plastic fast enough to feed it. The flow figures are given as ranges for exactly that reason — the hotend matters more than the nozzle.

Electricity rates by region

The reason that page exists at all is spread. Between its cheapest and its dearest entry there is more than a factor of four, which means an assumed rate is not a small approximation — it is the difference between a print costing pennies and costing five times that. So the rate is an input you edit, never a constant baked into a result, and both the default and its compilation date sit on the page in plain sight.

Read them as starting points. A time-of-use tariff, a fixed contract or a roof full of panels moves an effective rate a long way from any published average, and your own bill beats every table here.

Why these are separate pages rather than buried in a tool

A figure you cannot inspect is a figure you cannot argue with. If a calculator tells you a print cost forty cents in electricity and you think that is wrong, the useful next step is to see which rate and which wattage it used and change whichever one is wrong for you. Pages like these are what make that possible.

Nozzle diameter and print time

The single most useful thing in the nozzle table is the relationship between diameter and time. Going up one size widens each bead and raises the layer height at the same time, and two multiplied gains compound into a saving far larger than either one suggests on its own — the 0.6 mm page puts real timings on it. What you trade away is fine detail, which matters on a miniature and rarely on a bracket.

Keeping the rate table honest

Electricity prices move, so the rate table carries a visible compilation date rather than an implied one. A reader who can see when the figures were gathered can decide for themselves whether to trust them; a reader who cannot has to assume they are current, and that assumption is how a table quietly outlives its own accuracy.

If that date has aged by the time you get there, reach for your own bill instead. It was always the better input.
